Tubing Catheters and Accessories
We can supply a wide range of catheter tubing in Micro-Renathane, Renasil, PTFE, Polyethylene and Tygon. With needles, stylets, injection ports, collars and tethers to suit.

Micro-Renathane Implantation Tubing
Polyurethane based catheter tubing with exceptional qualities for implantation in experimental animals. After use in haemodialysis, Micro-Renathane showed significantly fewer surface deposits of platelets, proteins, trapped red cells and other blood elements than other tubing and so offers extended catheter life.

Renasil Silicone Rubber Tubing
Renasil™ is a platinum cured silicone tubing which contains no harmful plasticisors, it is essentially inert. The tubing maintains flexibility through a temperature range of -70° C to 250° C. The tubing is autoclavable and can be re-sterilised without altering physical characteristics.

Polyethylene Tubing
Polyethylene is a relatively rigid polymer suitable for short-term catheterisation and for ex-vivo applications. Polyethylene ‘sleeves’ can be slipped over less rigid materials (Micro-Renathane®, Renasil™) at suture points to protect against inadvertent constriction.

Tailveiner Restrainers
The Tailveiner is an easy to use mouse and rat restrainer specifically designed for tail vein injections. The slotted tube permits the rat or mouse to be quickly pulled in by the ttail and then restrained by a plug which slides easily to accommodate any size of rat or mouse.

Armour Touch Metal Mesh Gloves
Protects against teeth and claws when handling small animals. Braintree Scientific’s metal mesh gloves provide security and a sure grip. More flexible than leather, readily cleaned, won’t stian, corrode or carry odours. Gloves may be worn over surgical gloves. Adjustable wrist band prevents slipping. Supplied as a single glove.
Kevlar Handling Gloves
Black deerskin leather glove, lined with 100% fine knit Kevlat. May be worn on their own for handling small animals. Fabricated for flexibility, comfort and safety during long periods of wear. Sold as pairs. Please note these gloves run large.
T/Flex Plus Handling Gloves
Cut resistant gloves for animal handling. Suitable for the safe handling of small laboratory animals including rodents. T/FLEX PLUS gloves are a 13 gauge seamless knit shell made from Dyneema engineered fibres plated with Lycra – Spandex, Thermax and the antimicrobial treatment Alphasan. T/FLEX PLUS gloves conform to international safety standards for cut resistance.

Deltaphase Isothermal Pads
Maintain body temperature at 37 degrees C for hours with reusable Deltaphase pads
The Deltaphase® Isothermal Pad is a new approach to body temperature stabilization. It acts as a source of heat, but cannot overheat. Its constant temperature is based on a thermodynamic principle and needs no electricity or wires, no thermostat or feedback controller. It cannot generate electrical signals or cause interference. It cannot trigger an explosion. It can maintain a small animal at near normal and constant temperature for several hours. The Deltaphase® Isothermal Pad is based on the thermodynamic principle that a heat releasing phase change is isothermal, that is: that it occurs at constant temperature. A unique chemical solution is contained within a durable pouch. At room temperature this solution is in solid form. When heated to 39° the solution becomes fluid. In this state, the pad is activated and ready for use.
When an animal (or any cooler object) is placed in contact with the activated pad, heat leaves the solution as it undergoes a phase change back to the solid form. In this phase change, over 30 calories of heat are released per gram of solution, even though the temperature is constant. The pad remains isothermal until all the liquid phase has solidified. Only then does its temperature fall. The transition temperature has been preset to 39° so that a small temperature gradient always exists for heat flow from pad to animal. This heat flow balances heat losses and maintains animal body temperature near 39° for periods up to several hours.
Deltaphase Operating Board
This compact operating board takes advantage of the Deltaphase principle to maintain animal body temperature during surgical or experimental procedures. An eight and one half inch square stainless steel operating surface lies in contact with an activated Deltaphase® isothermal pad. The underside of the pad is insulated to provide a longer isothermal period.
Molded wells are provided for sponges, instruments and anesthetic apparatus. The board is functional, durable, and easy to clean. Its low cost and safety make it appropriate for use in student laboratories. The unit is supplied with two Deltaphase® pads.
